August 31, 2007 - Homecoming is a Wrestling Weekend! The Higher Calling Wrestling Club and the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga wrestling team is pleased to announce that they will be hosting wrestling legend Dan Gable at their respective facilities on October 12-13, 2007. The event kicks off 4 p.m. Friday at the Jones Wrestling Center in Cleveland, TN starting with a motivational talk from Coach Gable. Mike Hatcher, a former Gable wrestler and the new Higher Calling Wrestling Club coach follows with a 2-hour technique session. Activities continue on Saturday morning, 9 a.m., at UTC’s MacLellan Gymnasium with a technique session by Coach Gable. At 1 p.m. UTC head coach and World Team member Chris Bono invites participants to a UTC practice. Stick around for the UTC Homecoming football game at 6 p.m.! This is a unique opportunity to learn, meet, and be inspired by the biggest name wrestling has ever had to offer. Athletes and coaches, plan now to join us for elite level instruction, work out in exceptional training facilities, and learn practice planning from the best the sport has to offer. Nov. 28, 2006 (updated 01/09/07) -Plan Now for January and February Events There will be a Social for all fans immediately following the match vs. American on Friday January 12th at T-Bone's Bar and Grille. Enjoy great food and drink while getting to know your UTC team and coaches on a personal level. Help us celebrate the 06-07 season! Sunday, February 11th is Senior Day. The match is at 2:00pm vs. VMI. Former UTC All-Americans will be in attendance and honored. Show your support for the past and current athletes of UTC Wrestling! We are in need of many volunteers to work concession stands for the State Tournament February 14-16 held in McKenzie Arena. A percentage of the profits will help support UTC Wrestling. Oct. 24 -Intra-Squad Match and Social on November 3 We want to remind you about our 2006 UTC Intra Squad Match (6-8PM) and Social (Post-Match) coming up on November 3rd. The Intra Squad Match will be held at the Maclellan gym on the UTC Campus. Admission to the event is FREE. Our top two wrestlers at each weight class will be competing against each other. Following the match we will be having a social at Buffalo Wild Wings on Broad Street. This will be a great opportunity to come talk wrestling and meet our Team and Coaching Staff. October 1, 2006 -Practice and Homecoming on October 7 Mark your calendars: On October 7th, we will have a parents/homecoming weekend at UTC. We will have an open wrestling practice at Maclellan Gym starting at 11:00 am, then head down to the football stadium for a tailgate and some other fun activities. Make sure you catch a glimpse of the 2006-07 team and meet the coaches and athletes. We will have official UTC WRESTLING sweats, t-shirts and hats for sale at the practice. We will also sell these at all home matches; supplies are limited so get yours early. The gear is the same as what the team will wear throughout the year. Please come and support the guys and then root the football team on to a victory.
